Starting at High School is something to look forward to.
It is a big step but first year pupils usually settle very quickly. For
several years, teachers from the primary schools have been working with
teachers from Earlston High School to help make the change from primary
courses to secondary courses as smooth as possible.Earlston High
Guidance teachers visit primary schools in the spring term to meet
teachers, and in May they will visit primary schools to meet with P7
pupils. They will tell them about secondary school and will answer
questions. They will give each pupil a pack which will contain a school
prospectus, and enrolment form and an order form for school uniform items.
P7 pupils will spend two days in Earlston High in June. They will follow a
timetable designed to let them visit several departments and meet some of
their teachers.
Parents of P7 pupils will have an evening visit to the school. The
evening will include a tour of the school and you will meet the Management
Team and the Guidance Team. In addition to this visit, there will be an
"information evening" in May when you will have the chance to ask any
questions arising from the prospectus, etc. You will receive invitations
to these at a later date.
